CalcSpring

Foundation springs estimate

Windows

Description

The correct definition of the rigidity of the foundations and their influence in the structural analysis are questions that many designers do not have any simple tools to aid in the decision making. This calculator has this exact purpose: to assist the designer in estimating the rigidity of the foundation + soil set.

To use this calculator, the user needs to define the foundation element geometry, the borehole profile, and some soil characteristics. Based on pre-defined calculation methods and Mindlin's theory, Steinbrenner's method and Wrinkler springs, the calculator estimates the rigidity of rotation and translation of the foundation element.

For foundations type pile caps on piles, it is possible to define pile caps with 1, 2, 3 or 4 piles. For these elements, the calculation method used to estimate the load capacity is Aoki-Velloso.

For foundations type footing, Elasticity Theory is used to estimate vertical settlement, and are presented in addition to stiffness, the tensile strength values for Terzaghi&Vesic methods, NBR6122: 1996 and SPT correlation.
